The Dallas Mavericks, after an all too satisfying 95-84 victory over the Houston Rockets, have received a first round playoff meeting with the loathed San Antonio Spurs. Did anyone (be honest) out there really believe that the Mavs were going to get out of 8th place? And if so, did you think that after getting to 6th place in the grueling Western Conference on the final day of the regular season that they would end up with (gasp)...the Spurs? I know I didn't. Hasn't that been the Mavericks way all season long: they do exactly what you think they won't. Back-to-back roadies in Portland and Phoenix with no chance to sweep. Wrong. GS FakeToughs 2 days later, easy win? Wrong. Final 6 games of the regular season with 5 games against teams with winning records, split would be nice. Wrong. Whether you love the Mavericks or hate them, this season has certainly been entertaining and will only get more entertaining with this surprise first round series. First game tomorrow night 7pm central.
