Kris Humphries Traded To New Jersey

Mavericks' big-man Kris Humphries and exiled Shawne Wiliams are on their way to New Jersey tonight, according to ESPN, and former DMN, writer Marc Stein - whom I trust.

Former Maverick Eduardo Najera is on his way back to Dallas, after a six-year break from the Mavericks. Eddie's career averages are five points and four rebounds a game and he will likely play the same role as Humphries.

Honestly, this trade doesn't do much for me.

The biggest part of this trade is getting rid of Shawne Williams who never quite fit with Dallas and, under pretty ambiguous circumstances, has not been allowed to even be around the team this season.

I also know Dallas has their eyes on the prize (the 2010 free-agency bonanza) and are trying to save money by giving away a guy they rarely use when fully healthy in Humphries.

I can't help but think how young talent, such as Hump, would help you down the line in trade situations more than a couple mill against the luxury tax - not to mention the guy is 24 years old, 6'10, 235 pounds and extremely athletic - but they are paid to know these things and I understand that.

Oh well. What can you do?

Best Memory

In Dallas' first game against the Lakers this season, Humphries completely rejected Kobe Bryant as he drove for a dunk. The whistle had already blown before the at-the-rim confrontation, but the encounter bothered Bryant so much that he continued to jaw with Hump as he shot free-throws; telling Humphries that he was going to "posterize [his] ass" later.

Humphries didn't back down to the four-time NBA champion and reigning MVP and I liked that.

Worst Memory

Humphries has played only 31 minutes in the last 11 games and has six DNP coaches decisions' in that time-span.

It's hard for the guy to get minutes behind Damp, Gooden, Nowitzki, and Thomas, so maybe this was the right move for some tax relief.
