Cowboys Pro-Bowl Selections

Dallas has six Pro-Bowlers on the roster this year. 25-year-old standout Miles Austin is the only first-timer. Austin leads the NFC in both receiving yards (1230) and is second in receiving touchdowns (11). (AP Photo/Nick Wass)

Observations From A Cowboys' Perspective

Overall, I don't have any complaints with the NFC roster.

One could argue for Tony Romo as one of the back-ups but Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre have had unbelievable seasons. Both have more touchdowns than Romo (both with 29) and less interceptions (Both have seven), to Romo's 24 TDs and eight picks. Both teams are also going to the playoffs and Favre's team will likely have a first-round bye.

You could also make a case for second-year cornerback Mike Jenkins who has come on strong this season and is tied for 6th in the NFC with five interceptions. Jenkins hasn't been beat very often and has come up with some excellent interceptions, often fighting the wide-receiver for the football - and winning. The problem is, the guys in front of him are stout. Asante Samuel is tied for the NFL lead in int's with nine. Charles Woodson has eight interceptions and two touchdowns. Dominque Rodgers-Cromartie has six and a touchdown and all have been lock-down corners for years.

Changes In Place/Date

This year, the game will be played in Miami a week before the Super Bowl. I don't know see this as a good idea when you have guys that will be playing in the Pro-Bowl that have to play in the Super Bowl the next week.

Commissioner Roger Goodell's reasoning for the change was that the Pro-Bowl seemed "somewhat anticlimactic." It's going to be more than that if Minnesota plays Indianapolis and 14 Pro-Bowlers withdraw. Any combo of playoff teams in the Super Bowl would have at least 5-10 players who would have to make the decision whether or not to go to Miami and play a meaningless football game the week before the most important game of the season

The Pro-Bowl will be played Sunday Jan. 31.
