Cowboys' Injuries Mounting

The bye week couldn't have come at a better time for the Dallas Cowboys (1-2).

With multiple veterans banged up and missing practice this week, an extra few days of rest is just what the doctor ordered for a Cowboys team trying to get back on track.

Tight end Jason Witten, wide receiver Dez Bryant and left guard Kyle Kosier have all missed practice this week. Witten and Kosier are both dealing with sprained right knee's, while Bryant is dealing with a rib injury. Both Kosier and Witten were injured in last week's 27-13 win over the Houston Texans, while Bryant's injury occurred in the week one loss to the Chicago Bears.

Both Bryant and Witten have been able to play through the injuries, and are expected to be ready for week five. While Witten has struggled to get involved in the passing game through the first few weeks of the season, Bryant has excelled in his rookie season. Bryant leads all first-year wideouts in catches (14), is second in yards (158), and has a 62-yard punt return for a touchdown already this season.

Kosier's injury is viewed to be more serious than the other two, as he recuperated from surgery on the same right knee in the offseason, and he is doubtful for the team's next game. Cowboys' coach Wade Phillips said the preliminary report suggests Kosier may miss two weeks.

"...it's more iffy," Phillips said of Kosier's status against the Tennessee Titans.

If Kosier missed any action, Montrae Holland will take his place at left guard.
